Everything BudgPay Does, In Detail
A closer look at how each part of BudgPay actually works - from splitting a group bill fairly to keeping warranty cards from ever getting lost.
Group Budgets
Group Budgets: One Shared Space for Every Group Expense
Start a BudgPay budget for any group of people who share costs - a flat, a trip, a family, an office collection, or a one-off event - and bring everyone in with a shareable invite code or QR. From that point on, every member sees the same running list of expenses and contributions, updated in real time, so nobody's stuck maintaining a separate spreadsheet or chasing a group chat to ask whether something got logged.
Each budget keeps its own member list, spending total, and history, so a "Flat 4B" budget, a "Goa Trip" budget, and a "Family Expenses" budget can all run side by side without ever mixing. Budgets you use often can be marked as favorites, which keeps them pinned to the top wherever budgets are listed across the app.
- Invite members with a shareable code or QR
- Shared, real-time expense and contribution list
- Favorite your most-used budgets to keep them at the top

Fair Splitting
Fair Splitting That Reduces Debts to the Fewest Transfers
Log an expense manually or snap a photo of the receipt to keep as proof, then split it evenly across the group or by custom shares if someone's portion was different. BudgPay recalculates everyone's "your share" and "you owe / you're owed" figures automatically the moment membership or spending changes - nobody has to redo the math by hand.
Instead of leaving your group with a tangle of small IOUs, BudgPay works out the fewest transfers needed to settle everything up. Rather than five people paying each other back in a dozen small amounts, it collapses the group's debts down to the smallest possible number of payments - and once those are made, everyone marks it settled.
- Split evenly, or by custom per-member shares
- Debts automatically simplified to the fewest transfers
- Mark a budget settled once everyone's squared up

Personal Ledger
Personal Ledger: Track Money You Lend or Borrow, Privately
Not every IOU belongs to a group. Personal Ledger is BudgPay's space for one-off money you've personally lent to or borrowed from someone - a friend, a family member, anyone - kept completely separate from your shared group budgets. Nobody else in your budgets can see your Personal Ledger, and nothing you log there affects any group's totals.
Because it's built for quick, private tracking, Personal Ledger only ever needs the one contact you pick for that entry - it never reads or syncs your full phone address book. You get a friendly reminder sent the moment it's relevant, and a single glance tells you exactly who you'll be getting money from, and who you still owe.
- Private to you - never visible inside a group budget
- Sees only the one contact you pick, never your full address book
- Instant reminders and an at-a-glance who-owes-who view

Bills & Warranty
Bills & Warranty: Never Lose an Invoice or Warranty Card Again
Bills & Warranty is where BudgPay keeps the paperwork you'd otherwise lose track of in email or a drawer - invoices, receipts, and warranty cards for anything you own. Snap a photo when you buy something, and it's organized and searchable by title, brand, or model whenever you need to pull it back up.
Every item gets a live warranty countdown, and BudgPay sends an automatic reminder before that warranty runs out - so you're never finding out it expired only after something's already broken. It's free to use for up to 15 documents on your account.

Recurring Budgets
Recurring Budgets: Set It Up Once, It Renews Itself
Rent, groceries, subscriptions, and anything else your group pays for on a schedule don't need to be rebuilt from scratch every cycle. Set a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly cycle once on a budget, and BudgPay automatically rolls it over into a fresh budget when the cycle ends - same members, same setup, ready to go again.
Under the hood, each cycle is its own separate budget, not a reset of the same one - so closing out July's cycle can't ever overwrite or affect July's numbers. That past cycle is labeled clearly (like "July 2026") and stays exactly as it was: every expense and contribution logged against it is still there, still fully viewable, in a newest-first list of every cycle that budget has ever had.
There's no cap on how far back that history goes and nothing is ever auto-deleted, so a recurring budget you've kept running for two years still has all two years of cycles sitting right behind it, not just a recent window.
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly renewal cycles
- Each past cycle is a separate, unaltered record - never overwritten
- Unbounded history - every past cycle kept, none auto-deleted
- Past cycles listed newest-first, labeled by period (e.g. "July 2026")

Spending Insights
Spending Insights, So You Know Where the Money's Actually Going
Beyond just knowing who owes what, BudgPay's Insight tab breaks down spending by category across a budget, so it's obvious whether groceries or takeout is really the bigger monthly cost. Month-over-month trends make it easy to spot when a group's spending is creeping up, before it becomes a conversation nobody wants to have.
Insights also show what each member has actually contributed, not just what they owe on paper - useful for any group that wants a fair, transparent view of who's been carrying more of the load.
Running more than one budget at once - a flat, a trip, a family fund - the Budget Performance view lines every one of them up side by side, each with its own spent-vs-total and utilization bar, so you can see at a glance which one's actually running over.
- Spending broken down by category, per budget
- Month-over-month trend tracking
- Per-member contribution view, not just balances owed
- Budget Performance: every budget's spend-vs-total, side by side

Real-time Alerts
Real-Time Alerts So Nothing Slips Through
A shared budget only stays accurate if everyone actually sees what's happening in it. BudgPay sends a notification the moment a new expense or contribution lands, when someone accepts a budget invite, or when a bill or warranty reminder comes due - so you're not relying on someone remembering to mention it in the group chat.
- Instant alerts for new expenses and contributions
- Notified when someone joins a budget
- Local notifications for bill and warranty reminders

Security & Privacy
Security & Privacy, By Design
BudgPay never asks for your bank details or UPI PIN, and everything you store - from ledger entries to warranty documents - is encrypted both in transit and at rest, behind strict access controls. You can lock the app itself with Face ID or fingerprint, so it's protected the moment it comes back to the foreground, not just at login.
If you ever want out, full account deletion is one tap away - your profile and personal data are permanently removed. The only exception is expense and contribution records inside a shared group budget, which stay in that group's history so they don't affect the other members still using it.
- Biometric app lock (Face ID / fingerprint)
- Data encrypted in transit and at rest
- One-tap, permanent account deletion
